Beaches Starry Night

Oil, 16 x 20
2007

I was asked to come in to Williamson Road PS to help with their fundraising project where each class created a painting to be auctioned off at Junefest. The grade 1 & 2 class that I visited was doing a unit on community so we spoke about the buildings and various things that they would find in their community. Each child painted one of these… except one student, who didn’t feel so inspired by this idea so he drew rockets and spirals. “Perfect!” I said to him, “can you do more spirals, and they can be the stars?” He was thrilled and his stars then inspired me to paint this painting Beaches Starry Night. Goes to show we can all inspire each other in the creative process…
