Banff Moon

Oil on Canvas, 20 x 24

1998 (sold)

In September 1998 I went to the Banff Centre for the Arts to study voice. It was at a time when I was ready to give up on something I had always wanted to do, sing. I went to the workshop and studied with an incredible teacher, Richard Armstrong, who had a gift of leading people to their own free, unencumbered voices. And through this workshop, I sang like I had never sung before. That night as I left the dormitory I saw the full moon rising up over one of the mountains. The experience and that image of the fat moon left such an impression on me that I came home and painted it that week.
